And...we're back!

We (mostly Fred) have been working on a couple of projects during our "Shelter-At-Home" period. Fortunately, we both have been able to work our main jobs from home although Fred goes into the office one day a week right now. Montana has 14 Covid deaths and 445 known cases so far.

We got some chickens so we had to build a chicken coop. In the meantime we quickly built a simple brooder in the shop to keep them in.

Fred milled the lumber from old power poles that were given to us by the power company when they replaced some of the transmission line poles. They are untreated western red cedar. At the store a 1x7x8' western cedar board costs $42 so the poles are very valuable.

Fred and a helper planted over 300 hundred Aspen seedlings along the property this week.

We are open to suggestions for names.

A Litte Late but...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I got a little Holiday spirit and had a hankering to make some Christmas cookies.

I also made some divinity and fudge but those weren't as pretty as my cookies! So no pics.

We finally got around to getting our handrail up on our loft

Hunting Season 2019

Terry and I covered a lot of ground looking for elk this year. Seems like almost every time Terry hunted the weather was cold and snowy.

Some pictures of Dave and  I packing in the hunting camp..

Sunrise on the mountain..
Terry all "padded up" with warm clothes..

Terry has been paying her dues for a few years but still hasn't gotten an elk. Hopefully next year!

I managed to get one.  Dave and I went in to the camp on Friday, had some coffee then went out for an afternoon hunt. We split up at about 2:00. I had seen elk in this park before and had located a nice tree that I could climb up and sit comfortably in to watch and wait. He hiked up and I went to the tree. No sooner had I gotten settled in the tree when 3 bulls walked out into the park about 285 yards away. One shot and elk season was over for me. 5 minutes later I heard a shot and it turns out Dave had killed a bull too. He shot his at about 500 yards away and also got him with one shot.
