Trail Camera Photos

Last fall I left a trail camera in the woods near our hunting camp. Last weekend Terry and I rode in and picked up the camera. Lots of good photos...

Emily C Cabin Visit

The snow melted out early this year. I was able to get in to the cabin on June 5. I spent a night in that weekend then 3 nights starting on the 19th. I worked on the cabin quite a bit.

After reading this blog post, check out the youtube video of the trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxpmPv4kNbw

Getting there is half the fun:

Lots of trees blocking the trail. The ones below are just a few of many. I had to clear them all with a chainsaw.

I was clearing one when I realized I was cutting right next to this mule deer fawn hiding in plain sight. I left him alone and moved on. When I came by later he was gone.

Milling some lumber...

Table project using the lumber...

Beautiful weather!

For fun, I built a "wood" stove. Good for one use only!

And...we're back!

We (mostly Fred) have been working on a couple of projects during our "Shelter-At-Home" period. Fortunately, we both have been able to work our main jobs from home although Fred goes into the office one day a week right now. Montana has 14 Covid deaths and 445 known cases so far.

We got some chickens so we had to build a chicken coop. In the meantime we quickly built a simple brooder in the shop to keep them in.

Fred milled the lumber from old power poles that were given to us by the power company when they replaced some of the transmission line poles. They are untreated western red cedar. At the store a 1x7x8' western cedar board costs $42 so the poles are very valuable.

Fred and a helper planted over 300 hundred Aspen seedlings along the property this week.

We are open to suggestions for names.

This is the only named - Speckles
