FAMILY VACATION - JULY 1 THROUGH JULY 7, 2011
July 1
After work on Friday, we went to Lewis and Clark Cavern State Campground.
We went to a Ranger program - "Songs We Used to Sing"
There was a booklet of about 24 cowboy songs that we all sang along with (or tried to anyway)
After that we roasted marshmellows and hotdogs.
July 2
We toured the Lewis and Clark Caverns on Saturday. It was pretty interesting and in some spots kinda tricky to get through.
We had to hike up about 1/2 mile up the cliff behind this building just to get to the entrance of the cavern.
Inside the caverns we had to climb up 100 steps and down 500, duck walk, duck and twist sideways just to get through.
That afternoon we drove to our next campsite in the Pioneer Mountains with plans to go to Crystal Park the next day. So that night Fred taught us how to do the "train whistle" like Papa used to do.
Fred is just acting silly here. Not really - he actually has to do this to whistle :)
Check back tomorrow.
