sawing, snow and cold!
Last weekend, I made a short timelapse of sawing logs. A picture was taken every 15 seconds over a period of about 55 minutes.
It could be awhile before I can do any more sawing- snow and cold temperatures are here.

4 Day Weekend
While Terry is back home visiting, I have been staying busy.
This is a time lapse camera I built for someone at the University of New Mexico who studies volcanoes. He will be using this, along with another I made, down in Chile next month to make videos of some eruptions hopefully.

Our weather here has been pretty mild. No snow in the valley..
Time for the horses to go back home. Hunting season ends Sunday.
Here are some pictures of the wood I have sawn so far. I think the saw will have paid for itself by the time the barn is built.
These are 6x6x16, 7x7x16 and 8x8x16 timbers. One 8x8x16 costs $130 at the local sawmill. The logs cost about $15 each, delivered. It takes about 15-20 minutes to saw a log.

Brandon's Basket ball game
Brandon had a basketball game last night that I was able to go see. It turned out to be a nail biter. They were down 14-2 going into the 4th quarter and came back only to lose 17-16. If you know me, I can not take pictures and watch the game at the same time. The pictures were during warm ups and the one of the videos is the jumpball to start the game. Sorry for the blurry pics.

Time lapse video of moon rise
Very cold last night. Down to about 5 I think.
The sky was very clear so I went out to experiment with a new version of the time lapse board. This one works with a new camera we have. The camera is a Pentax digital SLR. This type of camera allows you to shoot long exposures, such as for night pictures. It also has a port built in that allows me to connect the controller board with no modifications to the camera.
I programmed the board to run from 11:30 PM to 4:00 AM. and mounted the camera to a tripod. The exposure time was 30 seconds and a picture was taken every 2 minutes.
To see the video full size go to vimeo.

Hunting Trip
Fred and I woke up @ 4:00am to go hunting for elk on horseback today. We did not get anything but did see a mountain goat, a mule deer, a grouse and a lot of cattle. Fred walked in and saw a cow elk. We heard a bull bugle and tried to call him in but he wasn't interested in us. Here are some pictures from the adventure.
