I wasn't too happy with the roof pitch and low headroom in the cabin so last weekend I rebuilt the gables to steepen the roof. It was a lot of work but I like it a lot better now. It also allowed me to make the doorway taller. I had to take off the door frame lumber and decided to make some new boards with the chainsaw instead of carrying in additional lumber for it. It takes about an hour to saw a short log this way. There are hundreds of dead, dry lodgepole pine trees around so it is easy to get logs.

Summer Vacation
Here are some pics from Brandon's and my visit to Montana in July
We went camping at Holland Lake in Seeley Swan Valley
We (all five of us, 3 people and 2 dogs) slept in the tent
very comfortably I might add
We took the "sheep wagon" and used it for storage and for a dressing room at times
Fred was put in time out :)
Brandon was pooped out after all the festivities
Aug 2015
It has been a busy summer but I haven't posted anything in a while so I will try to catch up now.
Last week, a bear passed through here eating chokecherrys along the road. I saw him in the yard just before dark. At night, he climbed in the bed of my truck and put his paws all over it, leaving mud here and there.
Last weekend, the dogs and I headed down to Basin to camp with my friend Dave and his family..
We hiked in to the Emily C on Saturday morning. It had snowed above 7500' elevation the night before. We also had snow in the mountains in July this year.
Dave's girls were hilarious..
Hot dogs on the stump stove..
Some pictures from work. The contractor repaired on old truss bridge and used cranes to set it in place along with a new one. Believe it or not, the rusty one is the new one!
Cabin progress has been a little slow. I did get the floor down and doorway cut out. It will have to be a tarp roof for a while though.
