Getting ready for our hunting trip

Today Fred took the two horses up to our hunting spot to get our camp set up and ready for me (us) to use in a couple of weeks. At the beginning of the trail are a couple of rocky areas so he asked me to help him take the horses past them. I hiked with him a little farther up the trail then left them to go on their merry way. It was another 7 miles for Fred and the horses. He rode Friendly and let Parker up the trail. When we go I will ride Parker. Fred took his bow since it is still bow season "just in case".

Elk Wallow

I only archery hunted once down at the Emily C cabin near Basin. A friend of mine and I stayed there one night last weekend. We had a good time and saw some elk but didn't get any.

I had placed a camera on a elk wallow back in August and picked it up as we were leaving last Sunday. I won't get back down there to hunt this year. When I got home, I saw that there were some good videos recorded by the camera:

I also had a picture of this guy. Glad he didn't steal the camera. A nice bull showed up later the same day.

Rifle season opens Oct. 20 and Terry and I have a hunt planned for that week. We will be taking the horses in to the area close to home.

House Progress

Fall is here and our landscapers just finished up their work. After almost 3 years of dirt and construction materials all around the place, it sure is nice to have it done. We made the patio pretty large and included an area for a firepit. Eventually we plan to have a carport roof that will extend from the back of the house to the little cabin. Over the winter I plan to enlarge the solar shed into a shop. It is 16x20 now and I will enlarge it to 28x40. Cold weather is here so I am in a hurry to get the concrete placed. I was able to get it formed up and the gravel placed this weekend and hope to pour it Friday.

And a short video:
