Mexico #3

On Wednesday, we decided to go to Dolphin Discovery and swim with the dolphins.

Here is the "batman" pose. The dolphins swim up behind you and you grab onto their fins.

A dolphin kiss

"Shaking hands"

Having dolphin "stand up" and touch our hand

"Superman" - You float on your stomach with arms and legs stretched out. The dolphins swim up behind you and push you up in the water by pushing up on the bottom of your feet with their noses.

Just petting and posing

We even got to feed and swim with manatees.

Mexico 2016 (cont'd)

On Tuesday we rented a golf cart and rode around the whole island.

We went to Punta Sur

Punta Sur - The Mayan Temple, Sculptures and Breathtaking Views

Punta Sur is located at the southern tip of Isla Mujeres, 20 meters above sea level, where the rising sun first touches Mexican soil. This is the highest elevation in the Yucatan and home to an ancient temple honoring the Mayan Moon Goddess. Visitors can look out from its steep, naturally carved cliffs toward awesome views of Cancun and the bay.

Later that day we went riding around again.

Mexico 2016

Fred and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in Mexico. We flew into Cancun and took a ferry to Isla Mujeres.

Map of Isla Mujeres Mexico

It was a 20 minute ferry ride.

The first night we were there, Fred saw some Mexicans fishing off of the deck on the beach. They were fishing for barracuda. This was the load they hauled in that night. Fernando, the main fisherman, invited Fred to come back to fish later in the week.

The next day, Fred went out to try his hand at fishing. They wait until the bait (sardines) swim by and drop a net to catch them. We were out for a couple of hours and the bait never came while we were there. We went and got ready for dinner and went back out. They had finally gotten some bait and were fishing. They had caught some.

Then all of sudden there was a great commotion on the other deck. One of the other guys had a fish on his line. (he was fishing with just a line, no pole). It was a struggle to get it in to shore.

No wonder it was such a struggle - look at the size of that fish!

On our last night there, Fred once again tried his hand at fishing for barracuda. I got a video of the sardines swimming by.

After catching the bait, the fishing began.

Fred got one!
