Log Framing

On Thursday I had a crane come to set the logs. I also hired two people to help. It took about 7 1/2 hours to set them all. Everything fit together well (whew!) with just a little adjusting here and there as we went along. It was a beautiful day too. Click on a photo to enlarge it then click the back button to get back to the blog.

The front gable dormer still needs to be framed. I will have some log accents that will not need to be set with a crane. I will also add rafter tails to the interior logs (the ones that don't extend past the wall). Hard to explain why I am doing it this way but I will explain that later when it is in place and there are pictures to show.

The porch roof unit weighed 3000 pounds according to the crane operator.

Happy Easter! / Flying Camera

Happy Easter!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but will have everlasting life."

John 3-16

Since I have been working on the logs parts, not much has been done on the house itself. The log work is finally ready now and I have a crane scheduled for Thursday. There are 3 columns, 1 ridge beam, two trusses and 12 rafters. I hope everything fits together!

I bought a better copter that takes much better photos and video... It can also do some other things that are pretty amazing. I will cover them later.

The photo below was taken above the cliff in front of the house. The copter was 1000 ft above the take off level and about 50 feet above the ground where it was taking the photo. In the lower left you can see our new place and in the lower right is our old place.
