Spring Break 2012

Fred and I met Brandon in ATL then flew to Pensacola to go to Gulf Shores, AL to visit Fred's family for Spring Break.  The first day after we arrived we had thunderstorms so no visits to the beach on that day.  On Tuesday, I went to the beach by myself.  It was a very foggy cool day but it not deter me from enjoying beach time.

This is the back yard facing the golf course.

Fred's Aunt Kathie has a three-wheeler that Brandon really enjoyed riding.  I got on it and was not able to ride it.  I would rather stick to the 2 wheel bike.

On Wednesday, we all went to the beach.  As you can see, Fred was trying to find a hidden treasure.  No luck though.

Thursday I went by myself to the beach and it was a very beautiful day.  I saw dolphins playing in the ocean and enjoyed watching all the people.

Some friends that hang out at the house.

This is a turtle that lives in the pond behind the house.  The family has him trained to come when they throw out bread crumbs.

On Friday, we went to Fort Morgan - an old military fort.

Some recent cnc projects

I bought a CD off the internet that has a lot of graphics for CNC carving and plasma cutting. There are about 5000 graphics on the disk but only about 100 that are any good to me. Still, it was worth the price just for the good ones. This sign uses two of the graphics from the CD. Terry picked out a really good font to use. The tricky part is cutting to the right depth so the detail isn't lost.

I cut this out for a friend from work who is making a piece of furniture for his daughter. There are pockets on the backside that he will put photos in so that each letter acts as a small picture frame.

Here is one for Brandon's birthday. Since he is such a talented athlete, it wasn't hard to decide on the theme!

These signs were carved and then spray painted black. After the paint dries, they are planed which removes the paint from the surface but leaves it in the carved areas. Sealer is then applied. It takes about an hour to cut one of these.
