6th- Bridge Foundation

Here is another picture from last weekend of excavating the bridge foundation. I dug out about an 8' x 16' rectangle down through dirt/mud to gravel. Then I backfilled with big granite rocks. The dam is really a diversion to keep most of the current in the middle of the creek and to reduce the amount of mud washing into the creek.

Here is the other side of the creek with all the rock fill in place:

Here are the footing forms, not quite finished. Hope to get them set in the creek with the reinforcing steel tomorrow. Planning on pouring the footings and the first bridge section next Friday. (There will be three sections.)

April Fool's Day - 34 degrees

LET THE DIGGING BEGIN

Fred starting digging in the creek yesterday. Here is a ramp he made so he could drive down to the creek with the machine.
Fred is digging on the side of the creek closest to the road here.
Here is a makeshift dam. It worked - sort of.

Here is a sketch of the side view of the bridge that "we" will be building. Hoping to dig the foundation for it this weekend.
