Cabin Move and more

Two weeks ago we had a crane come out to pick up the "Clemson cabin" aka the Guest cabin and help move it to its final destination behind the house. Here are a few pictures from the move. We are working on making a video and posting it for you to see.

This past week we had some workers here pouring concrete for our deck/patio and carport parking area.

This is a picture of the "entertainment center" our TV will be on a lift system and we will be able to hide it when we are not watching it so we can still have our wonderful view out our big window.

Shellrock Fire

Last week we had some thunderstorms that started some fires near Helena. One of them is about 7 miles north of us and is about 437 acres. It is far away from us so there is no concern that this fire would spread to where we live.

The inciweb site publishes info on fires...

The Shellrock Fire is burning heavy timber and grass in steep remote country with extremely difficult access. The fire is primarily located in the Beartooth Wildlife Management Area and portions of private ranchlands. The fire is approximately five miles north of Beaver Creek Road, and two miles west of Middle Creek Lake. A high-voltage powerline and pipeline is in the area but not threatened at this time along with two ranch cabins and a historic cabin.
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) County Assist Team, Incident Commander David Hamilton, is in place and managing the fire while working closely with local landowners, Cascade County, Fish Wildlife and Parks, and interagency fire cooperators.
Firefighting efforts on Thursday August 16th concentrated on addressing spot fires; wetting active areas in the main fire perimeter with water from helicopter bucket drops, engines and skidgens; and continuing to build and improve hand tool and equipment fire line to check the fire’s growth.
CLOSURE: Fish Wildlife and Parks Beartooth Wildlife Management Area is closed due to fire activity and will open as soon as it is safe to do so.
EVACUATION: No evacuations are in place.

2 Engines
3 Helicopters
2 Twenty-person hand crews

14 Smokejumpers

4 Heavy Equipment (2 dozers, 2 skidgens)

Brandon's visit and other things

We had a visit from Brandon this last week. He arrived on July 30th. The next two days, we built a jack fence around the area where the horse(s) will stay during hunting season.

On Friday we went Ziplining in the Gallatin Canyon area. It was the first time for all of us. I will do it again!

Walking up the rope bridge to the last zip line

Crossing the river to the end of the zip line

Happy we made it. This is one of our guides. He was very entertaining.

Watching Brandon and me zipping over the river.

On Saturday we went in to our cabin in Basin. Fred and I went in the truck while Brandon got to ride the 4-wheeler. Only one 4-wheeler was working ☹. Fred and Brandon worked on putting roof boards on the cabin while I supervised.

Break time

He can sleep anywhere!

Getting ready to make the finishing cuts

Landscaping has begun!
