Drones can be used for mapping. I used a simple app that makes it easy to fly over an area and take photos on a grid pattern. 50 - 100 photos are usually enough to map an area. You then upload the pictures to a website where they are processed into a map and even a 3D model.
Here is the map of our place. (I know, there is a lot of construction debris right now!)
Click on the 3D link after you look at the 2D map.

LAST VISIT TO MONTANA.....
until I move back in June
I had a nice visit to Montana. I was there for the last 3 1/2 weeks. Fred and I did quite a bit of work on the house with some help from Melvin and Joshua on the weekends.
Here are some pics from the visit
Putting the roof on the solar shed
The dogs got hold of my phone and took some selfies
The front door
Metal that will go into the bottom of one of the doors.
I rusted them.

The tub/shower unit in our bathroom

Sealing doors, interior progress
Our doors finally arrived from Kalispell. About 3 months late but that was ok since the house is taking forever to build! They are made with barn wood and turned out nice. I made a carving on the CNC and mailed it to the door guy and he used it in the front door.
A couple of helpers and I have been working on the interior finish. I put up a few light fixtures here and there.
