July 17th Demolition has begun/New bathrooms

We started demolishing the front porch.  We will clean off the logs and paint them brown and get rid of the lime green.  Yeah!
The other pictures are of our new bathrooms.  We haven't gotten the new vanities in but will put pictures on when they are in.

Glacier Park

This past weekend we went to Glacier National Park. We had a good time. We camped the first two nights and stayed in a motel the last. We went in through Lake McDonald and camped the first night there. On Friday we took the Going to the Sun road and camped at Two Medicine. The third day we went to Swiftcurrent Lake and stayed at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Here is the Many Glacier Lodge. It was built in 1915 and modeled after swiss chalets.

We hiked up to Redrock Falls.

Here we are standing next to the snow that was plowed off the sidewalk at the top of Logan Pass at the visitor's center.

We are sitting in front of St. Mary's Fall which we hiked to on Friday.

These warning signs were posted at the entrance of the park. Of course we heeded the warning until Brandon decided to try and feed...

A CHIPMUNK!

Here Brandon and Fred are getting smoked out.

On our way back from the Redrock Falls we saw a moose in the lake eating grass off the bottom. He decided he was full and walked off into the willows.

We decided to go back later in the evening to see if we could see the moose again but instead got to see a black bear.

I had to prove to everyone that I could climb a tree!

Bailey Bridge

On June 27, a bridge in Livingston was closed because high water flow was causing one of the piers to sink. A Bailey Bridge, which is a surplus military temporary bridge, was built. It took a week to put it up, directly over the old bridge. It clear-spans a branch of the Yellowstone- 200 ft. I got to help work on it Wednesday-Friday.

All of the bridge was assembled without a crane, but one was used to lift it off of temporary supports and then the bridge was lowered onto the bearings.
